Get ready for a day filled with family-friendly events and patriotic spirit! We invite you to join us at Community Park in just a few days for Superior's 4th of July Celebration with red, white, and blue fun for everyone!
Unfortunately, the annual Superior Downhill Mile and the parade are paused this year due to construction on Rock Creek Parkway. The Town is working hard to complete the bulk of the roadwork during the summer to avoid impacting school traffic.
Bring your patriotic spirit for a day of live music, free pancakes, bubbles, games, and lots of fun!

Your voice matters: Superior could lose its only neighborhood bus route
RTD has proposed discontinuing Route 228 in September 2026.
Route 228 is currently the only fixed-route neighborhood bus service operating within Superior, connecting residents to Downtown Superior, local neighborhoods and the U.S. 36 and McCaslin Park-n-Ride. It also provides regional connections to Flatirons Crossing Mall, Louisville and Lafayette.
Whether you ride Route 228 every day, use it occasionally or simply believe Superior should continue to have neighborhood bus service, your feedback can help inform RTD's decision. Share your experiences, explain why local transit matters, and suggest ways RTD can improve service and grow ridership rather than eliminate Superior's only neighborhood bus route. Now is the time to act!
- Email RTD Board members
Tell RTD why Route 228 matters to you, your family or your ability to access jobs, schools and services. Board members will make the final decision.
To: RTD.Directors@rtd-denver.com
Copy: service.changes@rtd-denver.com and lynn.guissinger@rtd-denver.com
- Submit a comment
Use RTD's online comment form or call 303-299-6000 to speak with staff directly.
- Speak at a July RTD Board meeting
Residents can provide testimony before the RTD Board votes on the proposed service change. View July board meeting dates and participation options.

While the proposed discontinuation of Route 228 most directly impacts Superior, additional service changes have also been suggested. You can view the other proposed September 2026 service changes on RTD's website.

Leash up for safety: Protect your dog, wildlife, and our community
Watching your dog explore the natural world off-leash can be a joyful experience. However, it's important to remember that dog ownership comes with responsibility, too.
Superior's leash ordinance requires you to keep your pup leashed (unless you're visiting a designated off-leash area), but doing so is also the kind and neighborly thing to do!
Find out more about why leashing is so important in this article on the Town website.
And don't forget: You can take your pup to the Autrey Park Dog Park (1830 Honey Creek Drive) or the Central Park Dog Park (2560 Central Park Way) for some off-leash fun!

The initial phase of the Indiana Street reconstruction project, from North Torreys Peak to Mount Sopris Way, is nearing completion.
After July 4, the contractor will start phase two, which includes the full closure of Indiana Street from McCaslin Boulevard to Mount Sopris Way.
The project includes full reconstruction of the roadway, curb and gutter improvements, upgraded sidewalks, and enhanced bike and pedestrian facilities.
Construction will conclude before the start of the 2026/27 school year, so school traffic will not be affected. During this project, temporary road closures and detour routes will continue to be set up as needed, along with periodic sidewalk closures.
Updates will be available on the Town Projects webpage. Don't forget that you can now visit the Town's new interactive road construction map for detailed views of closures, detours, and more.

Original Town alley and roadway stabilization project moves into second phase
The Original Town alley and roadway stabilization project is moving into the second phase, in which the alleys and unpaved roads will receive a chip seal to further harden and protect the driving surface.
This work should take a couple of days and will conclude in early July.
During the initial phase, the alleys and unpaved roads in Original Town received fresh millings, grading improvements, and a stabilization treatment to harden the roadway surface.
Once the work is complete, the alleys and roads will have a hard surface with an expected useful life of approximately 5 years, eliminating dust and allowing plowing.

Sustainability
Simple steps to protect Superior’s waterways
With Coal Creek and our local ponds, the Town works hard to monitor and manage the local aquatic ecosystems we all enjoy. Staff prioritizes maximizing ecological health and biological diversity and limiting the application of chemicals.
One innovative example is the Town's use of a Water Beetle remote-controlled aquatic weed harvester to manage seasonal duckweed overgrowth in local ponds. Keep an eye out for it the next time you're visiting a pond around Town!
