What is Planning responsible for?

The Planning division is tasked with implementing the goals of the Board of Trustees, including the management of development opportunities in a timely manner and reconciling public and private interests so that growth achieves the Town's long-term vision.

Planning is concerned with:

  • Zoning and land use regulation
  • Community outreach and visioning
  • Providing information and analysis to the Town Board
  • Reviewing development plans and building permits

What is Building responsible for?

The Building division, operated by SAFEbuilt, oversees the issuance of building permits and reviews plans for both commercial and residential construction. The department is responsible for inspections, building safety and variances.

A building permit must be pulled through our permit portal, CommunityCore. All permit applications and submittals must be submitted electronically to CommunityCore. Paper submittals are not accepted.
