We're actively recruiting volunteers for the programs below. If you're interested in getting outside, helping care for and restore our Open Spaces, we'd love your support!
Raptor Monitoring Program
This year-round program offers flexible volunteer opportunities, including self-paced or group raptor walks with fellow volunteers, with hours varying based on your availability. Participants observe and monitor raptors and their nesting activity, then submit reports through a private group on CitSci. CitSci serves as a platform to track important data on raptor populations while also recording volunteer hours, making it a meaningful way to contribute to local wildlife conservation on a schedule that works for you!
Wildlife Monitoring Program
This program runs year-round and provides adaptable volunteer opportunities, whether you prefer independent walks or joining other volunteers, with a schedule that fits your availability. Volunteers observe and document local wildlife, submit reports through a private group on CitSci, and may also assist with wildlife cameras. CitSci helps track valuable data on wildlife activity while also logging volunteer hours, providing a meaningful and accessible way to support local conservation efforts.
Wildlife & Habitat Encouragement Team
This year-round program brings volunteers together through monthly meetings and group walks, creating a collaborative space to discuss, promote, and take action on ways to improve wildlife and habitats in Superior. Participants may also assist with wildlife cameras and take part in trash clean-ups, contributing to hands-on conservation efforts that support and protect the local environment.
Weed Warriors
This seasonal program, running from April through September, offers flexible volunteer opportunities through self-paced or group weeding projects in Superior’s open spaces. Volunteers help restore native habitats by hand-pulling invasive and noxious weeds and reseeding areas with native seed mixes, with all supplies provided by the Town of Superior. Participants also contribute by submitting reports and recording project data, supporting ongoing conservation and restoration efforts.
Pollinator Garden Volunteer Projects
This year-round, weather-dependent program focuses on maintaining and growing native plant species to support pollinators and enhance local wildlife habitat. Volunteers help care for pollinator gardens at Purple Park and Original Town, working alongside partners including the Butterfly Pavilion, Friends of Coal Creek, and fellow Town of Superior volunteers. All supplies are provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own tools as they contribute to these collaborative, hands-on conservation efforts.
