Hello Superior,

Construction has begun on the renovation of Community Park Playground. This exciting project will transform the space into a 17,000-square-foot inclusive playground, designed so children of all ages and abilities can play, explore, and have fun. This new destination playground will truly be a special place for our community.

Accessibility Highlights:

  • Ramped entries & rubber surfacing so kids in mobility devices can roll right onto play structures
  • ADA swing seats and accessible spinners/rockers
  • The innovative 360 Loop climber/slide — a “game changer” that lets kids using mobility devices climb and slide on their own
  • Sensory play features built into ramps and tunnels for touch, sight, and sound

Cool Features for Everyone:

  • Towers up to 16 feet with rope tunnels and huge cobra slides
  • A zipline
  • Parent/child connection swings and toddler play train
  • Rockers, spinners, balance challenges, and imaginative play zones
  • Shade to keep play safe and comfortable

This renovation is expected to be completed by the summer. (You can find more about what to expect during construction on the Town website.) We appreciate everyone’s patience during this short period of disruption as we work to deliver a safer, more inclusive, and more engaging play space for our community. Huge thanks to our Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, Town staff, and residents for shaping this design — and of course, to our community for passing the 2024 sales tax ballot measure that makes a project like this possible.

Respectfully,
Mayor Mark Lacis

Let's work together to be responsible pet owners!

As a dog owner, there is nothing more joyful than watching your dog run and explore the natural world.

However, dog ownership comes with responsibility, too. Leashing and picking up after your furry friends helps keep our beautiful parks and open spaces healthy and safe for all.

Leashing your dog protects people, pets, and wildlife!

Three people with leashed dogs speak with an animal protection officer in the park

Superior's leash ordinance requires you to keep your pup leashed (unless you're visiting a designated off-leash area), but doing so is also the kind and neighborly thing to do!

Off-leash dogs risk bringing home an unwelcome mange infestation, disrupting wildlife, or causing anxiety for other people or pets.

Learn more about why leashing is important from Boulder County Animal Protection Supervisor Janeé Boswell.

A clean community starts with you!

A person uses a blue plastic bag to pick up after a small fluffy white dog

Aside from being a stinky nuisance, dog poop contains bacteria and parasites that can pose health hazards to humans, wildlife, and other dogs!

When left on the ground and not disposed of properly, dog feces can introduce harmful bacteria and nutrients into local waters.

  • Bring bagsalong and pack extra in case you run out or need to help a neighbor who forgot theirs.
  • Make sure those bags end up in a trash can at the end of your walk! There are courtesy bags and trash cans located throughout the Town.
A bernese mountain dog and a husky walk through a dog park together

The bottom line? Leashing your dog and picking up after them keeps them safe, protects our local wildlife, and ensures open spaces remain a joy for everyone.

Don't forget! There are two dog parks in Town where your dog can enjoy off-leash fun: Autrey Park Dog Park (1830 Honey Creek Drive) and Central Park Dog Park (2560 Central Park Way). The Town recently made exciting improvements at Autrey Park! You can learn all about the project on the Town website.
