Public Works and Utilities
With cold weather approaching, please remember snow removal is a team effort!
With an average of 70 inches of snow each year, sunny days alone can't always keep roads and sidewalks clear.
That's why residents, Town staff, and contractors need to team up for snow removal.
|
Who is responsible for what?
- Homeowners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks bordering their property within 24 hours after a snowfall ends. If you cannot clear snow due to physical or financial constraints, consider seeking help from the Snow Busters volunteer program.
- Superior's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department removes snow from priority sidewalks and paths. Explore the Sidewalk Snow Maintenance interactive map to see who is responsible for the sidewalks around you.
- The Town has partnered with Triton Snow Removal to plow most Town roadways during most storms. The partnership with Triton, which began in 2023, has enabled the Town to maintain a high level of service while using less deicing material and saving about $170,000 annually compared with the previous four years.
- The remaining residential streets, based on priority and snowfall amounts, are handled by our Public Works and Utilities Department.
|
Snow Busters help keep Superior's sidewalks safe
Get outside, help your neighbors, and keep the community safe by volunteering for the Snow Buster program!
The program assists residents who report being physically and financially unable to clear snow, sleet, and ice from the sidewalk adjacent to their property to remain in compliance with Municipal Code 11-1-20.
If you need help or want to help others, Snow Busters is the program for you! Volunteers are matched with a resident who requested assistance with snow removal.
To volunteer or request assistance, visit the Town's Volunteers webpage.

Rock Creek Parkway construction set to conclude in October
Construction on Rock Creek Parkway between Enterprise Street and Coalton Road is ongoing.
Crews completed work on the northbound lanes and will focus on the southbound lanes in October. Two-way traffic will continue in the northbound lanes.
Crews will also complete a mill-and-overlay at the Rock Creek Parkway and Coalton Road intersection and on Honey Creek Drive, removing the top layer of damaged asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth layer. This will require intermittent closures.
The Town appreciates your patience as this project enters the final month of construction.
Want to stay informed? Visit the Town Projects webpage, or check out the Town's new interactive road construction map for detailed views of closures, detours, and more.
