We have a lot of events planned for Downtown Superior this year. We’ll be bringing back our extremely popular Summer Concert Series on alternating Saturday nights throughout the summer. We’re also really excited to launch the Superior Summer Market as well.

The Superior Summer Market will be a monthly street-faire experience on a Wednesday night (monthly from May through October) for friends and family to enjoy local goods, live music, and food & fun for all. We’re kicking off the Summer Market on May 14 with live music from Dechen Hawk & The Lit Squad. This is going to be a great new event for our town and I can’t wait to see it come to life!

Join the Town of Superior and Xcel Energy from noon to 2 p.m. on May 3 at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road) for the East Boulder County Safety and Resilience Fair.

The event features hands-on learning, safety demonstrations, and community resources tailored for resilience and wildfire preparedness. From evacuation planning to home hardening, this fair empowers residents with practical tools to stay safe before, during, and after a disaster event.

The Town is in the midst of updating our Comprehensive Plan, a guiding document for decision-makers and Town residents that includes a vision for what kind of place Superior wants to be.

So far, we have coordinated multiple surveys, engaged with businesses, and met with our Town Advisory Committees. The Town is offering multiple opportunities to continue providing feedback in the month of May. More events are in the works, so please check back soon for additional details!

We're bringing novelty goods and local entertainment conveniently to you during our brand new Superior Summer Market.

This new monthly event kicks off on Wednesday, May 14 from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Superior, 2250 Main St.

Enjoy live music from Dechen Hawk & The Lit Squad, tasty bites from local food trucks, and unique vendors selling everything from natural meats, local honey, breads (gluten free and sourdough), mushrooms, pre-made meals, novelty and self-care products, plants, flowers, and more.

Local finds, family fun, cultivated convenience — shop the Superior Summer Market!

If you're looking for an informal way to connect with fellow residents and Superior Town Council members, stop by First Fridays Coffee on May 2 from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road).

These monthly gatherings are an excellent opportunity to discuss current topics relating to the Town. Bring your questions, concerns and updates. Coffee and light breakfast items will be provided.

Experience Superior as it was 100 years ago during the Historical Commission Annual Historic Walk, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on May 3. This free event offers a fresh perspective on the town and its fascinating past.

Participants will meet at Grasso Park (100 E. William St.) and should plan on walking at least 2 miles to the Industrial Mine site.

Please remember: Wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the hiking terrain and weather. Don't forget to bring your own hydration!

If you want to have even more historical fun, stop by the Asti Park Historical Museum (110 W. Maple St.) and/or the Grasso Park Interim Historical Museum (112 E. William St.) ahead of the Historic Walk.

The museums will be open on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Enhance your photography skills on May 10 from 4-6 p.m. with a free Photo Walk Workshop sponsored by Superior's Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Committee.

Meet in the Downtown Superior Plaza (2250 Main St.) for this event, which will lead participants past a series of Superior landmarks and pieces from the Town’s public art collection. The walk will be led by professional photographer and Superior resident Casey McCallister.

All photography skills are welcome. The Photo Walk will cover roughly 2 to 3 miles, including the hill along McCaslin Boulevard, so please wear appropriate footwear and bring your own hydration.

Bring your own digital camera, either a phone, mirrorless, or DSLR. Tripods are optional but some opportunities for long exposure photography and instruction will exist. Please register in advance.

Electrifying your home and ride can take some time, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Come by the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road) from noon to 3 p.m. on May 10 for a free, no-sales-pitch event that includes expert electrification advice, information on rebates and incentives, electric vehicle test drives, and personal stories from neighbors who’ve made the switch.

As a sweet bonus, attendees will receive free ice cream from Press Ice Cream! Get your questions answered and see how electrification can work for you!

Want to learn more about gardening but don’t have a lot (or any) yard space? Learn how to grow an edible garden on a patio, patch of dirt or anywhere you can in containers.

There will be two free workshops (1-2 p.m., or 2-3 p.m.) on May 10 at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road) where gardeners of any level can learn the basics of how to grow items that will thrive in containers and the importance of compost as a soil amendment.

There will be some informational presentations followed by hands-on planting time to ask questions and plant one or two edible plants in 5-gallon grow bags you can take home.

Superior residents can sign up now for the 2025 Boulder County group solar purchasing program, Switch Together. Switch Together makes it easier and more affordable for residents to install rooftop solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle chargers at home.

Signing up for Switch Together is free, and there is no obligation to make a purchase. Nearly 1,000 Boulder County residents have signed up for previous iterations of the program in the past two years, and over 300 have installed solar through it.

Exciting news: The Coalton Road and Rock Creek Parkway intersection is now a smart intersection!

Some of the new features include:

• Bicycle detectionallowingriders to travel through the intersection without stopping to press the pedestrian crossing button
• New equipment with the ability to see vehicles further back than traditionaldetection,whichcan improve traffic flow
• Additional safety protections designed to decrease the risk of accidents

Residents can expect a better experience traveling through this intersection in vehicles and on bikes. The Town is looking to apply this technology to more intersections as funds allow.

Construction is progressing on the Coal Creek Pedestrian Bridge Crossing.

The bridge and path sections are mostly complete. The remaining work includes improvements to the 1st Avenue parking area.

The team should complete construction in mid to late May, and the path will open for resident use.

The Town is partnering with Broomfield to restore the pavement on Coalton Road from Rock Creek Parkway to Flatiron Crossing Drive.

Superior is responsible for Coalton Road from Rock Creek Parkway to the Tyler Drive intersection, while Broomfield will handle the remainder of Coalton Road east of Tyler Drive, including the intersection.

The goal is to start repaving this section of the road in July of this year.

As you travel around Superior, you'll notice construction activities are picking up, resulting in periodic sidewalk, path, lane, and road closures throughout the Town. Please use caution as you travel through construction zones and detours.

If you notice any unsafe conditions, please contact the Town immediately either through Superior Click Fix or the Message Us feature on the Town’s website.

Regional Transportation District (RTD) Route 228 will soon be modified, bringing transit services to Downtown Superior.

Town of Superior staff members are working with RTD to serve Marshall Road, Main Street, and Old Rail Way.

The Route 228 changes take effect on May 25, with three new stops being added in Downtown Superior. The current stop on McCaslin Boulevard near Town Hall will go away with this change, but residents who have used this stop in the past will be able to use the new stop on Marshall Road near Coal Creek.

We look forward to your next visit to Downtown Superior! Whether you're shopping, dining, or just enjoying a stroll along Main Street, the downtown area offers free parking at multiple locations.

Please note that on-street limits vary from two hours on Main Street to three hours on adjacent streets. All vehicles must be registered using the QR codes posted on Downtown signs, even if you plan on staying less than the allowed free time. Be sure to read the posted signs or refer to the parking map on our website. The Town is contracting with Parkwell to help manage parking. Parkwell began issuing citations in January.

Are you ready for a "splashtastic" summer in Superior? The Town pools officially open to the public on May 23.

A no-cost SplashPass is required to access the North Pool (1650 S. Indiana St.) and the South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.), but pool admission is free for Superior residents.

As the Town of Superior continues to grow, it's time to update our Open Space Management Plan to reflect our community's changing needs.

The Open Space Advisory Committee and Town staff are working closely with consultants from the local firm Design Concepts to update the Open Space Management Plan and are seeking public input.

Over the past decade, Superior has become a vibrant and thriving community, and our Open Space system has played a vital role in shaping our identity and quality of life. Public Hearings on Wildfire-Resilient Codes
Various dates in May

Community voices are vital in shaping Colorado’s wildfire preparedness policies. The Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code Board is holding public hearings and review to develop new statewide building and land use codes aimed at reducing wildfire risk. This code will impact Superior residents. We invite you to learn more and participate on the Wildfire Resiliency Code Board's website.

Please note: Written comments must be submitted by May 2. There will be four hearings with an opportunity for public comment on May 2, May 5, May 8, and May 9. These hearings will be held across Colorado, as well as virtually.

It's almost graduation time! Come cheer on the the Monarch High School class of 2025 during their annual Senior Parade from 4 to 5 p.m. May 10.

The parade will begin and end at Monarch High School but moves through the south side of Superior, down Rock Creek Parkway, west on Coalton Road, down Indiana Street, east on Castle Peak Avenue and Rock Creek Circle before circling back toward the school. Please avoid these streets if possible during these times. If you must travel on the parade route, please use caution and be patient with the celebrating seniors as they pass by.

Four candidates are running for two open seats on the Mountain View Fire Protection District's Board of Directors.

Ballots were mailed to all residents within the district, which includes Superior. Please return completed ballots by May 6. They can be dropped at the Superior Town Hall ballot box, 124 E. Coal Creek Drive.

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels can deliver hot lunches Monday through Friday and frozen meals for the weekends directly to your door!

There are no requirements or restrictions to receive meals. Pricing is on a sliding scale based on self-reported income.

The Superior Morgul Road Race, one of the most iconic courses in Boulder County, returns on May 18.

Racers will compete on a 7-mile, fully closed to traffic, loop course on Highway 128. This is a rolling course on wide roads with smooth asphalt.

There are eight shelters along U.S. 36, including two at the McCaslin Park-N-Ride.
