Volunteers needed for Superior Mural Festival prep
The Town of Superior could use some help preparing for the first Superior Mural Festival!
Before muralists can begin beautifying walls around town, the walls must be prepped. Volunteers will help mask off and prime small to medium walls that will be painted for the festival. This work is crucial to the success of this exciting new event!

- Volunteers will be working outside, so please dress for the weather, apply sunscreen, and bring a hat and sunglasses.

Shop local at the Superior Summer Market on Sept. 16
Market season is winding down, so don't miss your second-to-last chance to grab goods from local vendors at the Superior Summer Market before the series wraps up on Oct. 4!
Main Street will be abuzz with vendors, food, and music on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Downtown Superior, 2250 Main St.
Discover a wide range of offerings, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, pastries, plants, and jewelry!
Once you've filled your bags, unwind with a cold beer at The Stable Bar & Grill Beer Garden (at the east end of the market), then stop by the plaza for eclectic rock music from Ultralowfi. Keep an eye out for Mayor Mark Lacis on the drums!

Superior Historical Commission fall program brings Colorado's Rosie the Riveter to life
Join the Superior Historical Commission for its annual fall program featuring historian and performer Gail Beaton, who brings Colorado’s Rosie the Riveter to life.
The program shares the story of Gail Murphy, a bullet case worker at the Denver Ordnance Plant, and highlights the important role women played in the World War II effort. After the presentation, Beaton will answer questions first in character as Murphy, then as the historian and actor behind the portrayal.

Ready Together: Community Alert Drill on Sept. 19 helps families prepare for emergencies
In recognition of National Preparedness Month, the Town of Superior's Disaster Preparedness and Recovery department is hosting a new Ready Together: Community Alert Drill on Saturday, Sept. 19.
This family-friendly preparedness event helps households practice what to do in a real emergency. The drill will occur at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19 at your home, though community members can attend pre- and post-event meetings at the Superior Civic Space.

Oct. 12 through 13 are fall break days for Boulder Valley School District, and Mad Science of Colorado is hosting a camp with full- and half-day options to keep your kiddos busy and engaged! Superior is home to wildlife and plants aplenty!
It's always a great time to get outside and identify the varied wildlife and plants that call Superior home.
Even at the end of a hot and dry summer, there are many blooming flowers to be found! Visit Coyote Ridge Open Space, or any of the other open spaces in town, and see what you can spot.
Keep an eye out for curlycup gumweed, white prairie aster, little sunflower, or dotted gayfeather!

Jump, shout, and get your wiggles out on Thursdays at the Civic Space
At this weekly program, parents and caregivers can connect while their kids explore cushioned mats, play with musical toys, and make new friends.
Every other week, the session will follow the Musikgarten curriculum, designed to cultivate a lifelong love of music by guiding kiddos from their very first sounds through more structured musical skill-building.
Registration is required. Feel free to sign up for one session or multiple. The program is held at the Civic Space (2250 Main St., Suite 1001) on Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

Creativity meets community at the inaugural Superior Mural Festival!
Join the Town of Superior and Street Wise Arts on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. as Downtown Superior transforms into an open-air art gallery. Talented artists will bring blank walls to life with colorful designs exploring the theme of nature and regrowth.
Enjoy an afternoon of artist exhibits, mural tours, live painting, music from Carlos and the Crew & Drunken Hearts, arts vendors, food, and fun, held in conjunction with Superior's Fall Market.

Meet the talented lineup of muralists!
Ahead of the festival, on Thursday, Oct. 1, join us from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Downtown Superior Plaza (2250 Main St.) to meet the Superior Mural Festival artist lineup!
Artists will introduce themselves to the community and discuss their artistic practices and mural designs. The event is free, but registration is required.

Flor Pond maintenance begins mid-September
Flor Pond, located in Community Park Open Space, is a large detention pond that collects stormwater, reduces downstream flooding, and helps keep local waterways clean. Like all detention ponds, it requires periodic maintenance to continue functioning properly.
Beginning the week of Sept. 14, the Mile High Flood District (MHFD) will conduct maintenance on Flor Pond, including cattail removal and depth measurements. This work is critical for the pond to continue functioning properly and may take up to eight weeks.
