Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee Meeting

July 23

In July the Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Committee (CAPS) meeting the committee first received updates on the resident slideshow exhibit, mural repairs and the Superior Mural Festival, in addition to briefly touching on the tentative schedule for the Town’s 2027 Events and Programming. The committee also heard a report on the Marshall Fire Remembrance Project and engagement with the Town of Louisville on this project. Members were updated on work-plans, including the ARTery and Mural Festival. The committee was also reminded of the following up-coming Community Events: Boulder Film Friends in Superior showing of "We Are as Gods" on July 31 and the CAPS booths at both the Aug. 19 Summer Market and Sept. 12 Chili Fest. The committee approved a budget to support photography and videography for the Mural Festival. The meeting concluded with a discussion of partnering with the Town to create branded merchandise for the Town to sell to residents.

Project Updates

Indiana Street Project

Construction continues on Indiana Street from N. Torreys Peak to McCaslin Boulevard with crews completing phase 1 in early July and currently working on phase 2, which includes a full closure of Indiana Street from McCaslin Boulevard up to Mt. Sopris Way. This project includes full reconstruction of the roadway, curb and gutter improvements, upgraded sidewalks, and enhanced bike and pedestrian facilities. Construction will be completed before the beginning by Aug. 11, prior to school start such that we do not impact school traffic.

Rock Creek Parkway Improvements

Work on the new roundabouts at South 88th Street and Coal Creek Drive is moving ahead, with paving, concrete and grading progress across the corridor. Crews are working extended evening and weekend hours to reopen as early as possible.

Below is a look at where the work stands, what’s planned in the week ahead and a few reminders for getting around the area. Thank you to residents and neighbors for the feedback that continues to shape how detours are managed.

Getting around the area

  • Saddlebrooke is a private community and is not a through route. Access is managed for Reliance Circle and Saddlebrooke residents only and may change based on conditions. Please do not cut through Saddlebrooke, and please respect the new “Local Traffic Only” signs around 88th Street.
  • Rock Creek Parkway through traffic should use South Indiana Street and Coalton Road. Detour signs are in place and may be updated as conditions change, so please follow posted signs.
  • South 88th Street traffic should use Coalton Road, McCaslin Boulevard and South Indiana Street. Detour signs are in place and may be updated as conditions change, so please follow posted signs.
  • Crews are working extended evening and weekend hours to finish as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience with the added activity near the work zone.
  • The closure runs through Aug. 11, and crews are working to finish sooner.
