OSAC welcomed newly hired Seasonal Ranger Conor Curtis, and reviewed its recent Migratory Bird Day event and brainstormed ideas to improve public participation in 2027. It reviewed its criteria for its annual evaluation of potential property acquisitions for open space. Potential acquisitions will be rank-ordered and reported at its June meeting as an advisory exercise for Town Council. OSAC endorsed a slate of Coyote Ridge trail names for Council approval, and rank-ordered three proposals to Boulder County for joint participation in new trail development. OSAC discussed concerns over the deleterious ecological and habitat impacts of recent fire mitigation efforts in Town and elected to pursue this topic at a future meeting. Needs for multi-use trail etiquette and speed limit signage were assigned to a subcommittee for a future recommendation to the full committee. Subcommittee progress on a draft Town Wildlife Management Plan document was reported to OSAC by the subcommittee chair.

Four members were present during this meeting, resulting in a lack of quorum. Because of this, the May 20 PARC meeting was held as a work session. PARC members discussed priorities around smaller park maintenance, programming opportunities, and future community engagement efforts, with a strong focus on Pirate Park and expanding summer programming. Conversation also touched on long-term considerations for park ownership/management, upcoming events, and support for the SWEP grant tied to the Rock Creek Parkway/McCaslin area.
The south half of Rock Creek Parkway between S. Indiana St. to S. 88th St. is currently closed for roadway reconstruction. This phase is expected to continue for two more weeks. The pavement was milled and flyash treatment is being applied to the subgrade to reduce soil swell for a stable road base. Following soil treatment, the road will be repaved. Concrete sidewalk is being removed at the intersection of Rock Creek Parkway and Coal Creek Drive in preparation for the new roundabout.Two-way traffic is open on the north half of the road, cyclists are requested to utilize the sidewalk through the work zone. Please note the following traffic and RTD impacts during this phase of construction:
The Town requests that only local traffic use Rock Creek Parkway during construction. All other traffic is encouraged to use Coalton Road and McCaslin Blvd. as detour routes while closures are in effect. Traffic speeds are reduced to 25 MPH and fines doubled in construction zones. For phasing plans and approximate closure dates, please visit the Town Project website. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these roadway improvements and work to reopen the road as quickly as possible.
