Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee Meeting

April 24

In the April Cultural Arts and Public Spaces (CAPS) Committee meeting, the committee began by hearing from staff about budget, calendar and content deadlines, and potential collaboration with the developer of Block 8 in Downtown Superior. The committee then heard an update from the Marshall Fire Remembrance subcommittee about the RFQ process, as well as a debrief of the April 22 "Art Meets Nature" Pairing that was very well received. Next, the committee reviewed the status of many work plan items, including: several upcoming events and workshops, geocaching rollout, a late spring Rainworks installation, mural planning, and a project to label artwork in the public collection. Finally, in discussion, CAPS members voted to approve a neighborhood sponsorship application, reviewed plans to return the prairie dogs to public spaces and briefly considered artistic benches from Noble Wins for acquisition. The CAPS committee has two upcoming events: a professionally-led photo walk on May 10 and a drum circle in Purple Park on June 8.
