In the April Cultural Arts and Public Spaces (CAPS) Committee meeting, the committee first hosted Public Works civil engineer Christine Katz to discuss opportunities to adorn the stamped concrete planned for the Rock Creek Parkway reconstruction. The committee then heard staff updates on Community Center construction, the Hyatt mural design, Civic Space flex area and plaza landscaping improvements relevant to CAPS, and an upcoming review of advisory group policies and procedures. The CAPS committee then reviewed progress on the Marshall Fire Remembrance Project, the upcoming Superior Mural Festival, and very briefly touched on the ARTery status. Also noted were the upcoming community film events: Chasing Childhood and The Life of Chuck. Key discussion items included potential revisions to the CAPS resolution (tabled until the June meeting), finalizing the digital art exhibition title (ballots were cast), planning for the "rainworks" product rollout, as well as a brief overview of the images that will be used for giveaway stickers and the blanket for the Chili Fest booth raffle.
