April 8
Planning updates for World Migratory Bird Day (May 9) and National Trails Day (June 6) were reviewed. Budget Recommendations for 2027 and 2028 that addressed the shortfall in open space staffing and the funding needs for upcoming trail improvements at Coyote Ridge, the Industrial Mine site and elsewhere were reviewed and approved. Staff reported on Coyote Ridge trailhead signage design. OSAC reviewed options for trail proposals to Boulder County Open Space and elected to gather information from neighboring municipalities before ranking Town of Superior requests. BOCO trail proposals will be prioritized at the May meeting. OSAC concluded that there were no land acquisition requests that could be made to BOCO that would satisfy BOCO participation criteria. OSAC elected to proceed with a proposal to draft a Wildlife Management Plan, and an authoring subcommittee was formed.
April 13
During Monday’s Town Council meeting, the council: held a joint dinner with the Planning Commission; authorized the Town’s Special Counsel to file a petition for a writ of certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court in the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport matter; approved a contract with RCD Construction, Inc. for the 2026 Indiana Street Roadway Improvements Project; approved a contract with American Contractors for the Original Town Alley and Roadway Stabilization Project; approved the intergovernmental agreement with the City of Longmont Bike Share Program; approved a contract with CMH Concrete Pumping, Inc. for the 2026 Concrete Repairs Project; made a proclamation in recognition of an outgoing advisory committee member; approved an appointment to the Superior Youth Leadership Council; approved the application for a liquor license transfer for LIV NailSpa LLC for the Pharaohs American Grill LLC dba Pharaoh’s American Grill; heard a presentation and held a discussion with Bill Jencks of PMB, LLC regarding Downtown Superior Blocks 2 & 5 development; heard a presentation and held a discussion with Town staff regarding the Superior Community Center project update; and heard a presentation and held a discussion with Town staff and Water Attorney regarding the 2026 water projections and restrictions.
April 17
The April meeting of the Historical Commission covered many important issues. For example, plans for the April 29 Spring Educational Program were fine-tuned. Also covered were the plans for the Historic Preservation Award Program sponsored by the Boulder Heritage Roundtable. The Town of Superior and the Superior Historical Commission will be recognized for the rebuilding of the Superior Historical Museum which was destroyed in the Marshall Fire. The Commission voted to finance the preservation and installation of a historic map in the Asti Park Museum. Also, plans were covered for the May Historic Walk to the Industrial coal mine site.
