New mural coming to Rock Creek Parkway underpass
The wall of the Rock Creek Parkway underpass near Purple Park is about to get an exciting upgrade!
Artists Hilary Williams and Susan Mattson of Revel Painting will begin painting a 140-foot long mural on the wall of the underpass beginning Monday, Sept. 22.
The weeklong project will result in a whimsical design incorporating peonies, foxes, and a pattern of shapes that references the molecular pattern of coal.
Residents can participate in the painting process by signing up for painting session today! Session #1 will be on Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon, and session #2 will be the same day from 1 to 4 p.m. Spots are limited. Please wear painting clothes and bring water.
We hope you'll stop by and check it out!
Is it really an e-bike? Check before your child rides.
Not all e-bikes are the same, and it can be difficult to know what class a bike belongs to. Always check the manufacturer’s specifications for the motor’s watts and maximum speed. Bikes that travel faster than 20 miles per hour are Class 3, which are for riders 16 and older and for road use only.
Motors over 750 watts? These are motorized vehicles, not e-bikes, and may be classified as electric dirt bikes, electric motorcycles, or mopeds. With powerful motors that can reach speeds of 40 to 50 mph, they are not allowed on multi-use trails and may only be used on designated motorized trails or track courses. On streets, they require a valid motorcycle endorsement, registration, license plates, and insurance.
