Superior's signature Chili & Beer Fest coming in hot on Sept. 12

Flavorful fun is back on Saturday, Sept. 12, for the 25th annual Chili & Beer Fest!

Join us from 2 to 6 p.m. at Community Park (1350 Coalton Road) to taste an array of chili-themed foods and sample a variety of craft beers, ciders, wine, and spirits.

Whether you're a food connoisseur or a beer enthusiast, there's something for everyone at this event. Plus, live music, vendors, and inflatable fun for all ages!

Volunteers needed! For our "nacho-average" volunteers, the Chili & Beer Fest is coming up and we’ve "bean" thinking of you!

Modified pool hours in effect for the remainder of the pool season

It's time to enjoy the last swims of the summer! Modified hours at Superior's North and South pools are in effect.

North Pool (1650 S. Indiana St.)
Open until Sunday, Aug. 23

  • Monday through Friday: 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Adult lap swim hours: Sundays, from 10 to 11 a.m.

South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.)
Open until Friday, Sept. 7

  • Monday through Friday: 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ready Together: Community Alert Drill helps families prepare for emergencies

In recognition of National Preparedness Month, the Town of Superior's Disaster Preparedness and Recovery department is hosting a new Ready Together: Community Alert Drill on Saturday, Sept. 19.

This family-friendly preparedness event helps households practice what to do in a real emergency. The drill will occur at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19 at your home, though community members can attend pre- and post-event meetings at the Superior Civic Space.

Shop local at the next Superior Summer Markets

Stroll Main Street and shop local at the next Superior Summer Market events on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Sept. 16!

Downtown Superior (2250 Main St.) will come alive from 5 to 8 p.m. with merchants, meals, and music to savor with family and friends.

Fill your bag with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pastries, plants, jewelry, and so much more! Once you've crossed everything off your list, grab a beer from The Stable Bar & Grill Beer Garden (at the east end of the market) and stop by the plaza for reggae and ska rhythms from Al's Highway 50.

Jump, shout, and get your wiggles out on Thursdays at the Civic Space

Jump Shout Wiggles Out

Jump, shout, and get your wiggles out! Parents and caregivers can connect while their kiddos explore cushioned mats, play with musical toys, and make new friends!

Starting Thursday, Sept. 3, every other week will follow the Musikgarten curriculum! This educational program helps cultivate a lifelong love of music, guiding your kiddo from their very first sounds through more structured musical skill-building.

Drop in for $2 a day or select multiple dates on CivicRec. The program is held at the Civic Space (2250 Main St., Suite 1001) weekly on Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

Learn about tinnitus and how collaboration with hearing care professionals can support improved outcomes from Dr. Hannah Glick, an audiologist, cognitive neuroscientist, and senior director of tinnitus programming at the American Tinnitus Association. This community lecture is presented by Family Hearing.

Superior artists: Submit your art for a chance to participate in the new Artist Spotlight exhibit

Superior is full of artists, and we want to put your artwork where the whole community can see it.

The Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) Advisory Committee has launched a new exhibit opportunity for resident Superior artists! Artist Spotlight: Neon Dreams & Digital Streams is an open call for art that will feature local artists through slideshow exhibits.

The new rotating exhibits will be featured on large monitor screens at the Superior Community Center and the Civic Space. This is your invitation to submit your artwork for a chance to share what you create and see it celebrated across town!

Your input can help shape Pirate Park!

Pirate Park playground at 1466 Vinca Place is ready for a refresh! After 25 years of use, the equipment is showing its age, and the play area lacks adequate shade. The Town plans to replace the existing equipment and surfacing with a new, modern design that meets current safety and ADA accessibility standards.

Want to help shape the design? The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will discuss the playground design on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 124 E. Coal Creek Drive. Residents are welcome to attend and share their feedback.

Calling all ghosts, goblins, and ghouls!

The Town of Superior is brewing up even more fun for this year's spooktacular Monster Mash party. Join the Superior Youth Leadership Council on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Downtown Superior for this free, family-friendly event at the Superior Civic Space.

Make crafts, play games, and enjoy a Trick-or-Treat Street along Main Street. Plus, dress to impress for the annual costume contest! While prizes are reserved for our youngest costumed creatures, everyone is encouraged to join the fun by dressing up. After all, you’re never too old to have a gourd time!

The Town of Superior and Boulder’s Street Wise Arts are hard at work preparing for the Superior Mural Festival, and we've got an exciting announcement. The artist lineup for the inaugural event is here!

Mark your calendars, and join us on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Downtown Superior for an afternoon of artist exhibits, painting, live music, arts vendors, food, and fun! The festival will be held in conjunction with the final Superior Summer Market of the season. You can expect all the fun of a typical market but with even more excitement!

Boulder County seeks public input for Hazard Mitigation Plan update

The Boulder County Recovery and Resiliency Division is updating the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and inviting community members to help shape the process.

The Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies natural hazards that could affect Boulder County and outlines actions that can reduce risks to people, homes, businesses, infrastructure, and the environment.

Community feedback will help identify local concerns, understand how hazards affect different areas of the county, and prioritize projects and strategies that reduce future impacts. Learn more and take the survey on Boulder County's website.

The Superior Veterans Group (SVG) is seeking veterans, active-duty service members, Blue Star and Gold Star family members, and supporters to join new activities with a renewed focus on supporting and serving Superior's local veteran community.

If you're a veteran or associated with the military, the group could use your help and knowledge to identify how best to move forward. All ideas and thoughts are welcome!

The SVG will next meet on Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the conference room on the second floor in the Blue Sport Stable at 1 Superior Drive in Downtown Superior.

Future ideas and efforts include:

  • Review Aug. 4 activities from National Night Out
  • Plan Chili & Beer Fest & Veterans Day activities
  • Long-term objectives, organizational status, activities, and budget
