Bike Share, Car Share and EV Charging

BCycle e-bike share has arrived in Superior, giving residents a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way to travel around town and connect to destinations throughout the region.

The Regional E-Bike Share Program, powered by BCycle, provides electric-assist bikes for short-term, on-demand rentals from self-serve docking stations. Use an e-bike for a coffee run, a trip to the store, a connection to transit, a commute, or a recreational ride.

Ready to ride?
Getting started is easy. Download the BCycle app to find a nearby e-bike, purchase a pass, unlock your bike, and start riding. When you’re finished, return the e-bike to any BCycle station in the regional network.

BCycle offers single-trip, daily, monthly, and annual passes, including low-income annual passes. View the BCycle map, download the app, and learn more at Boulder.Bcycle.com.

Riders must be at least 18 years old and follow all traffic laws. E-bikes can be ridden on streets, bike lanes, multiuse paths, and trails where bicycles are permitted. Helmets are encouraged, and riders should ride courteously and responsibly.

Explore Superior and beyond
Superior’s e-bike share program is part of a regional partnership led by the City of Longmont and funded by the Colorado Energy Office’s Community Accelerated Mobility Project (CAMP) Grant. The partnership includes Boulder, Broomfield, Lafayette, and Westminster.

BCycle, which has operated in Boulder for more than a decade, is supporting the expansion of e-bike sharing across the region. As more communities join the program, riders will be able to travel between participating communities and pick up or return bikes at stations throughout the regional network.

What is carshare?

Car sharing is a type of short-term car rental where you only pay for what you use, resulting in access to vehicles without the high cost of car ownership. In addition to affordability and convenience, car sharing is good for the environment, with each carshare vehicle replacing an estimated 9-13 individual/personal cars from our roads. When used in combination with biking, walking, and other modes of public transportation, you can become an environmental super hero while saving some serious money.

The not-for-profit organization Colorado CarShare, which currently has over 60 shared vehicles along the Front Range, operates the EV for the program. Anyone who signs up for a carshare membership can drive any vehicle in the fleet. Superior’s Kia Nero EV is currently available for reservations and is located in the Downtown Superior Parking Garage (2250 Main St, first floor, space 35).

To use the vehicles, the first step is to apply to become a member by signing up at carshare.org. After becoming a member, you can reserve the vehicles up to four months in advance. Vehicle reservations can be made for as little as 15 minutes or up to multiple days. Then simply go get your vehicle at the time you reserved. Return it to the same location where you picked it up when you are done.

Drive Electric Colorado offers one-on-one EV coaching and hosts many local events to check out EVs in person in no-pressure environments. They can also help with incentives and offer EV solutions to businesses.

Federal tax credits between $2,500 and $7,500 are available for qualified electric vehicles. FuelEconomy.gov offers an updated list of tax incentives by vehicle type.

To encourage an efficient and equitable transition to electric vehicles in the Town of Superior, electric vehicle charging stations have been installed throughout Town. These units are open to the public and available to use for $0.18/kWh of electricity for up to 4 hours. After four hours, a $25 charge will be applied to your account to help encourage shared use of the chargers.
