Town Council Work Session

Sept. 15

During Monday’s Town Council Work Session, the Council: heard a presentation from Library Systems & Services and held a discussion regarding library services; discussed a proposed ordinance regulating the use of electric bicycles and scooters; discussed 2026 events, the 2025 Rocky Mountain Women’s Disc Golf Championship Tournament, and the 2027 Sundance Festival; held a discussion regarding an employee survey; and held a discussion regarding the North and South Pools projects and construction schedules.


Planning Commission Meeting

Sept. 16

Planning Commission held a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, to discuss and make a recommendation regarding the proposed rezoning application of Lots 1-2, Block 2 and Lots 1-2, Block 7 of Minks Addition to Superior to Mixed-Use (M-U). Commissioners voted 4-2, recommending approval of the rezoning. Staff also provided an update on the Comprehensive Plan Update and information related to the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Map.


Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting

Sept. 17

The committee discussed their walk at Founders Park, debriefed the recent Chili & Beer Festival event, and reviewed fall volunteer needs, future event engagement, sports equipment checkout at the Community Center, and water conservation collaboration opportunities. Updates included timelines for the North Pool Renovation Project (delayed start to 2026) and Community Park Playground Project (anticipated completion date spring 2026), progress at Central Park, a park evaluation scorecard, e-bike ordinance development, event consolidation plans, early prep for Sundance 2027, and a committee member’s park passport idea.


Historical Commission Meeting

Sept. 19

The Historical Commission covered many important topics at their September meeting. We reviewed the recent museum openings and planned for next month’s open days. We brainstormed ideas on how the miner statue for the memorial base in Asti Park. Members suggested how the statue of the coal miner might appear. The ideas will be sent to the artist who is going to sculpt the statue. Plans were made for the upcoming 2nd grade field trips. Superior Elementary will visit our historic sites on Sept. 25 and Eldorado PK-8 will have their trip on Oct. 16. We were updated on the restoration of the privy at Asti Park. It is progressing nicely and will soon be ready for painting. Lastly, the plans for the Fall Educational Program were developed.
