Town Council Work Session

June 16

During Monday’s Town Council Work Session, the Council: held a joint dinner with the Historical Commission; discussed the Town 15 property; discussed residential lighting standards; and discussed the 2025 Colorado Wildland-Urban Interface Code. The Council also held a discussion regarding the potential addition of street art to underpasses for aesthetics and security, and to sides of buildings in Downtown Superior to create a sense of place and to draw people to Downtown Superior. Additionally, the Council discussed: the potential of having permanent installation/signage about Rocky Flats at the Town-owned parking area south of Coyote Ridge; regional housing group update; and the Rock Creek fence/landscape fee and the timeline for a decision.

Planning Commission Meeting

June 17

Planning Commission held a meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, to discuss and make a recommendation regarding the proposed annexation and PD zoning of the Turnbull property at 1599 S. 76th St. Commissioners voted 5-0 recommending approval of the annexation and zoning. Staff also provided an update on the Comprehensive Plan Update and community engagement to date.

Historical Commission Meeting

June 20

A main focus of the June meeting of the Historical Commission was a presentation showing the progress on the Marshall Fire media program made by Superior resident Daryl McCool. This project, funded by a grant from the Denver Area Lions Club, will be located in the Asti Park Museum and provide a visual record of the impact of the Fire on Superior. Plans were made for the Fourth of July event in Community Park. Furthermore, plans were made for the Fall Educational Program to be held in October. Commissioners provided updates on the cataloging progress at the Superior Museum.
