The Superior Youth Leadership Council met to discuss a few upcoming events with volunteering at National Parks Day and the 4th of July event. The 4th of July kickball tournament was cancelled due to low registration numbers. The staff liaison introduced a new liaison, Allison Humphries, to the council. The discussion then moved to finalizing logistics of the council’s Senior Send off event and Metro Mayor Day.

During the June 11 Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC) meeting, members discussed the annual open space budget submission that will be sent to Town Council for the 2026 calendar year. OSAC discussed the June 7 National Trails Day event, which had over 300 people in attendance at the Coalton Trailhead. There were various booths to educate residents about wildlife, habitat and the outdoors in Superior. There were two bald eagles who just happened to be soaring above the event. Goat Bros were there and a no-kidding, baby goat was born on site. There was a reptile booth, horse drawn carriage rides, a bike tour, a hiking tour and sweet cow ice cream. OSAC encourages residents to mark their calendars for next year’s National Trails Day that will take place on June 6, 2026! OSAC updated and approved the annual Open Space Property Evaluation Document. OSAC is also developing a document that will name community trails and prioritize those that require funding for maintenance. OSAC will have a booth on July 4 at Community Park. Residents can also look at the town’s civic rec website for upcoming open space programs. E.g. hunter education, wildflower walk, star party, birdwatching, etc.
