Dec. 16
Planning Commission held a meeting on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to hear a presentation and review the Draft Comprehensive Plan Update and complete their 2026 Workplan. The Consultant, Cushing Terrell, gave a presentation outlining the recommendations for Opportunity Areas, and the process they went through to come to those recommendations. They then went through some preliminary comments on the Draft Plan, before determining next steps for the Commissioners to provide written feedback. Next, the Commissioners discussed their 2026 Workplan, which was based on the previous 2025 Workplan, and updated with relevant projects for next year.
Dec. 19
The Superior Historical Commission (SHC) Meeting held its monthly meeting on December 19th. All members were present. Heather Cracraft served as Council representation. There was no public comment. This meeting was done virtually given potential weather concerns as it related to high winds. The Commission requested some minor changes to the proposed Miners memorial with work beginning on this project with an anticipated completion date in 2026. Discussion Items focused on the finalization of the 2026 Annual Work Plan, which was approved by a unanimous vote. The open Museum Day in January given the date's proximity to the holiday season and concerns about low turnout with weather. There will be a Work Session on January 9th which is anticipated to have the Communications Team involved to cover a conversation related to the 250/150/130 Town-wide celebrations recognizing the 250th Anniversary of the United States, the 150th Anniversary of Colorado, and the 130th Anniversary of the Town of Superior. Plans were ironed out for a spring program which would focus on the 10th Mountain Division. Staff updates included details on the annual budget report and new signage installed at the Superior Cemetery.
