Project Updates

Rock Creek Parkway

As Rock Creek Parkway and many other construction projects continue around Town, please visit SuperiorColorado.gov/ProjectUpdates to keep up to date with the most recent developments.

Here’s the progress we've made on the Rock Creek Parkway project as of Saturday, Aug 22.

Rock Creek Parkway from S. Indiana Street through the S. 88th Street roundabout is substantially complete and Rock Creek Parkway and S. 88th Street are open to the public. Construction has moved to the northbound lanes of Rock Creek Parkway between Enterprise Street and Coalton Road and is expected to last until Sept. 11. Two-way traffic is maintained on the south half of Rock Creek Parkway through the construction area. Please note that the northbound RTD 228A stops at Rock Creek Village/Bell Flatirons and Honey Creek Drive will be closed during this closure.

This week (Aug. 16 to Aug. 22)

Concrete work, including sidewalk repairs and curb and gutter repairs is in progress. The asphalt over the Rock Creek underpass was removed in preparation for installing new waterproofing for the underpass. All remaining striping from Indiana to South 88th Street was completed on Saturday Aug 22.

Next week (Aug. 23 to Aug. 29)

Concrete work will be completed. New waterproofing will be installed over the Rock Creek underpass. Full depth milling of the asphalt will start on Thursday, Aug. 27, and is expected to take three days.

We appreciate your understanding as we work through this phase of the Rock Creek Parkway reconstruction. Have questions or concerns? Contact us! Call us at 720-738-7693 or email pwu@info.superiorcolorado.gov.

Superior Community Center Construction

The Superior Community Center, 1500 Coalton Road, is a vital gathering place for residents to connect, learn, and participate in community activities. To address drainage and foundation concerns and protect the building for years to come, the Town has begun essential repairs.

Construction is on track to be completed by early November. The facility is closed while crews work to ensure safety and efficiency. Fencing has been placed around the work site. Demolition and removal of asphalt and concrete is nearly complete. Rough grading and work on underground storm lines and inlets is underway. Excavation for the structural work will begin next week. Some programs and room reservations have temporarily moved to the Superior Civic Space, 2250 Main St., Suite 1001. The Civic Space offers a welcoming place to meet, work and connect, and residents are encouraged to visit and explore this new community hub. For project details, visit the Town's project webpage or review the Frequently Asked Questions for more information about the closure, temporary program locations, parking, reservations and Community Center services during construction.

North Pool Renovation Begins

North Pool’s final day of the 2026 swim season is today, Sunday, Aug. 23. The renovation of North Pool begins tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 24. This renovation will bring significant improvements to the facility, including: a new pool shell and deck, updated bath hour, additional shade, a new zero-depth entry wading pool, and more efficient mechanical and sanitation systems.

The Town’s contractor, A.D. Miller, will kick off the project this week by mobilizing on-site. Construction fencing and barriers will be installed around portions of the parking lot and work area to maintain a safe separation between the construction site and the surrounding community.

The contractor will leave several parking spaces near the entrance to the lot available for tennis players, with a safe pedestrian route to the tennis courts along the construction fencing. The North Pool parking lot will not be available for school drop-off during construction. This restriction is necessary to maintain a safe construction area and help the contractor keep the project moving efficiently by minimizing interruptions during working hours. Please follow posted signage and construction barriers and avoid entering restricted areas.

The Town will continue to provide weekly project updates throughout the construction phase, including information about project progress, upcoming activities, and any impacts to the surrounding community. Thank you for your patience as we work to transform North Pool into an improved, welcoming facility that the Superior community can enjoy for years to come!
