Summer might be coming to an end, but we are just getting started! There's a lot happening already, and in addition, this September and October, the Town is launching the Every Scrap Matters Experience,a fun campaign designed to encourage all of us to get excited about composting! We hope you'll come visit us at one of Superior's upcoming events to experience the magic in person.
We're bringing a series of pop-up experiences to town with challenges, prizes, games and…a composting magician!
Here is what you can look forward to:
How to Get Involved:
Boulder County’s Switch Together, a group buy program that makes it easier and more affordable to install home solar, battery storage, and EV chargers, has reopened for a short time for all Boulder County residents. About 1,500 Boulder County residents have participated in Switch Together so far this year, with 500+ signing installation contracts.
Visit the Switch Together website to learn more and sign up for free, with no obligation to purchase solar. Participants will complete a brief survey about their home that the Switch Together team will use to provide a free personal solar installation recommendation. The final day to sign up is Sept. 3, 2025.
Program participants will benefit from discounted, high-quality installations with a competitively chosen vendor, as well as both virtual and in-person educational opportunities hosted by the teams at SUN and iChoosr. The first Solar 101 Event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Broomfield Community Center; find more details and RSVP online.
Let’s make Halloween Eek-o-Friendly with a Halloween costume exchange. Starting Sept. 1, 2025, the Town of Superior and the City of Louisville will collect good-conditioned, unwanted, and old Halloween costumes for all ages. During September, you can drop off costumes at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road, Superior) or the Louisville Public Library (951 Spruce St., Louisville).
While Ecotoberfest will not be occurring this year, the Halloween Costume Exchange will be held on Oct. 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.on the second floor of the Louisville Public Library at the top of the stairs. Come by the event, where we will be distributing costumes on a first-come, first-served basis!
Any donated costumes not distributed during the event will be donated to the Sister Carmen Thrift Store.
Tequila y Mezchal has received the inaugural Superior Chamber of Commerce Green Business Award, recognizing their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
This local favorite has made great progress towards greening their restaurant, including upgrading to energy-efficient LED lighting and water-saving fixtures, and partnering with Boulder County’s Partners for a Clean Environment to replace their old refrigerators with cutting-edge, energy-efficient equipment.
These upgrades not only keep their food colder and fresher but also reduce maintenance needs and cut utility costs, a win for both their business and the planet. Congratulations again to Tequila y Mezchal, thank you for everything you’ve done to make your restaurant more green!
The Town of Superior still has room in its Resource Central programs to help you save water! Sign up while there’s still time:
On Aug. 1, Boulder County launched the first round of its Climate Equity Fund. The grant program will support local climate leadership to advance Boulder County’s racial equity goals, support those most impacted by the climate crisis, and enable grassroots and neighborhood leaders to implement impactful climate action.
Boulder County will award grants in two tiers: one for projects between $5,000 and $50,000 and another for projects between $55,000 and $1 million. Eligibility details, application requirements and key dates are available on the Boulder County website.
The Boulder County Commissioners allocated $3 million from three funding sources for the Climate Equity Fund grants and administration in the 2025 budget.
