Spring is in full swing, so it's time to get outside! If you want to learn about pollinators, birds, and other critters, you're in the right place. Superior's Parks, Recreation & Open Space team has coordinated a month of exciting programs and events just for you.

Pollinator Gardening Volunteer Events
May 10 & May 13 | 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Purple Park (1310 S. Pitkin Ave.)

Join the Town of Superior Open Space and Friends of Coal Creek to help improve pollinator habitats in Purple Park! Volunteers will replace invasive weeds with native, climate-adapted flowers and shrubs that serve as food and shelter for the region's vast diversity of native bees and butterflies. Participants can expect to weed, dig, plant, and take on other gardening-related tasks.

World Migratory Bird Day Event
May 17 | 9 a.m. to noon

Are you a bird lover? You won't want to miss our inaugural World Migratory Bird Day event at Purple Park! Enjoy interactive booths and learn how to advocate for bird-friendly practices in our area. Plus, celebrate Superior's new Bird City Colorado designation and join in a bird walk to explore local bird species and their habitats.

Nurture a love for nature in this program for youngsters ages 3 to 5 hosted in partnership with Eldorado Canyon State Park. Expect hands-on activities, stories, and more! Parents must accompany children to the event.


Save the date for National Trails Day on June 7

Join the Open Space Advisory Committee for National Trails Day from 9 a.m. to noon on June 7 at the Coalton Trailhead, 3495 McCaslin Blvd.

At this free, family-friendly outdoor celebration, you can enjoy community booths, goat feeding, live animal presentations, and plenty of opportunities to get out on the trails!
