Want to participate in the 4th of July parade this year? The time to sign up is now!

Online registration for this year's 4th of July Parade is open until June 27. We welcome nearly all parade additions, so whether you're floating, riding, diving, biking or walking down the route, we want to see your parade addition!

This year, we are hosting a classic red, white and blue parade, so get creative and show us what Independence Day means to you! The community will vote for their favorite entries, and first, second and third places will receive prizes.

The parade will follow Rock Creek Parkway (RCP). Parade staging be on RCP from South Pitkin Avenue to South Indiana Street this year, and the parade will end at Community Park where you can join in the Pancake Festival fun!

Five tips for building a float!

Here are some tips on how to get your float started! Check out our Float Building Tips Infographic for a quick reference of the following information.

1. Split into teams

Spread out the workload with specific tasks:

  • Trailer Team
  • Creative Design Team
  • Construction Team

Involve as many people as possible—ask neighbors, gather friends, recruit the whole family!

2. Appoint a Leader

They will be your point person for:

  • Contacting the Town
  • In case something goes wrong
  • Making final decisions

3. Enjoy the Experience

Doing something without knowing how or if it’ll turn out can be hard, but remember to have fun along the way! Parade floats are about fun and celebration—it should be that way throughout the whole process.
