Power Your Home with Solar

The Town of Superior encourages you to go solar and support the Town’s commitment to increase carbon-free energy in all sectors. Not sure how much solar you’ll need? Consider the information provided on this flyer about powering your home(PDF, 665KB) before going solar!

The Town partnered with Boulder County to provide a program similar to Solarize Superior to support residents installing solar. Boulder County worked with the nonprofit Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to bring residents Switch TogetherFormerly known as the Boulder County Solar Co-op, this program is available to all Superior homeowners to assist people in going solar together and purchasing solar panels at a group rate from a single installer.

Switch Together conducts rigorous reviews of installer qualifications, ensuring participants receive a high-quality installation from a trusted installer. Through the current program, the average household is expected to save $5,135 on a high-quality solar installation. The 30% federal solar tax credit can further reduce your costs, making solar energy more accessible than ever before. It is free to register, and there is no obligation or expectation that you will purchase a system.

Take advantage of this opportunity by registering at SwitchTogether.com/Solar/BoulderCounty by June 18, 2025.

Beneficial Electrification Plan

Superior created its Beneficial Electrification Plan(PDF, 4MB) in September 2023. Electrification is the act of replacing gas- or diesel-powered equipment with electricity-powered equipment in buildings or transportation and is an important action to take to achieve our climate goals. This plan is also important to move forward the energy goals of our Sustainability Action Plan.

Our Beneficial Electrification Roadmap

Three strategies were identified to guide progress towards the plan's vision and goals:

  • Strategy 1: Electrification of Existing Properties
  • Strategy 2: Support All-Electric New Development
  • Strategy 3: Explore Electrification Opportunities for Town Fleet and Facilities

This plan builds on the foundation of Superior’s Energy Action Plan(PDF, 7MB) an effort led by the Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability (ACES). Successes from the program can be viewed in the Energy Action Plan Successes Dashboard(PDF, 854KB).

SolSmart

Superior is a designated Bronze SolSmart community. By listing solar permitting requirements online, having an average turnaround time of two days for residential solar permits, waiving solar permit fees, and allowing installers to apply for permits via email, we have ensured solar is more accessible and affordable to Superior residents and businesses. Advancing solar energy benefits the Superior community, by not only reducing our carbon footprint, but also helping us become more resilient and adaptive.
