Model Traffic Code

It is not the official State of Colorado Department of Transportation version.

Sec. 8-1-10. Adoption.

Pursuant to Parts 1 and 2 of Article 16 of Title 31 and Part 4 of Article 15 of Title 30, C.R.S., there is hereby adopted by reference the 2010 edition of the Model Traffic Code promulgated and published by the Colorado Department of Transportation, Safety and Traffic Engineering Branch, 4201 East Arkansas Avenue, EP 700., Denver, CO 80222, as modified in Section 8-1-20. The subject matter of the Model Traffic Code is comprehensive traffic control regulations for the Town. The purpose of this Article is to provide a system of traffic regulations consistent with state law and generally conforming to similar regulations throughout the State and the Nation. One (1) copy of the Model Traffic Code adopted herein shall be filed in the office of the Town Clerk and may be inspected during regular business hours. (Ord. O-8 §1, 2010)

A copy of the Model Traffic Code adopted in this section is now filed in the office of the City Clerk and may be inspected during regular business hours. The following articles, sections and/or subsections are inapplicable to this city and are therefore deleted:

  • Part 1, “TRAFFIC REGULATION–GENERALLY,” Sections 101, 102, 103, 109.5, 109.6, and 117;
  • Part 2, “EQUIPMENT,” Sections 217 (1)(c), 236 (5), 236 (6), and 240;
  • Part 7, “RIGHTS OF WAY,” Section 711;
  • Part 10, “DRIVING-OVERTAKING-PASSING,” Sections 1011, and 1012;
  • Part 11, “SPEED REGULATION,” Sections 1105(5), 1105(6), 1105(7), 1105(8), and 1105(9);
  • Part 12, “PARKING,” Sections 1208 (9) and 1210
  • Part 14, “OTHER OFFENSES,” Section 1412 (11) (b), (c), (d) and (e);
  • Part 17, “PENALTIES AND PROCEDURE,” in its entirety;
  • Part 18, “VEHICLES ABANDONED ON PUBLIC PROPERTY” in its entirety;
  • Part 19, “SCHOOL BUSES,” Sections 1901, 1902, and 1904;

All subsections of the 2010 edition of the Model Traffic Code for Colorado that categorize violations into classes of traffic infractions, traffic offenses, misdemeanors or which set forth a specific penalty for a violation, whether monetary or otherwise.
