Xcel Energy replacing underground power line along Rock Creek Parkway

Published on November 05, 2026

Xcel Energy crews are replacing the main underground power line along Rock Creek Parkway to reduce the risk of future outages. The work follows a series of power outages earlier this year caused by failures in underground power lines.

Xcel previously replaced a damaged section of the line near Honey Creek Lane following outages in June, and crews are now replacing the remaining portion of the line to improve reliability. Work will continue through January 2027 along Rock Creek Parkway, from South 88th Street to McCaslin Boulevard. Residents can expect periodic sidewalk and bike lane closures during construction.

No work is anticipated within the Rock Creek Parkway roadway, and the newly installed asphalt is not expected to be affected.

For questions about this work, contact Xcel Energy directly or email the Town at pwu@superiorcolorado.gov.
