Sept. 10
ACES received updates from Mayor Pro Tem Jenn Kahoosh and Sustainability Manager Alexis Bullen. Jenn discussed equity issues related to water resources in surrounding communities with Town Council members. Alexis briefed the committee on the Town Council work session, town budget process, the water conservation plan, responses to resident concerns about herbicide application and sewer fees, the report on apartment recycling and compost collection and potential future ACES members. A member of the Peak-to-Peak Eco Club came to the meeting to discuss potential areas where the students could work with ACES. The committee had a discussion on the upcoming Chili fest event and finalized the schedule for tabling volunteers. We approved expenditures of ACES budget on compostable leaf bags and giveaway items for December events. We also discussed how to engage more adult residents during our tabling events. The committee agreed to move the November meeting to Nov. 5 to avoid the conflict with the volunteer event on Nov. 12.
Construction continues in the northbound lanes of Rock Creek Parkway between Enterprise Street and Coalton Road and is expected to last until Sept 25. Two-way traffic is maintained on the south half of Rock Creek Parkway through the construction area. Please note that the northbound RTD 228A stops at Rock Creek Village/Bell Flatirons and Honey Creek Drive are closed during this closure.
This week (Sept 6 to Sept 12)
Concrete work, including sidewalk repairs and curb and gutter repairs is in progress. Roadway grading is underway in preparation for paving.
Next week (Sept. 13 to 19)
Concrete work will be completed. The remaining portion of Rock Creek Parkway from the Rock Creek Village entrance to Coalton Road will be chemically treated. Paving bottom and top lifts from Coalton Road to Honey Creek Drive/Coal Ridge Drive will begin and is expected to take 2 days.
The Superior Community Center, 1500 Coalton Road, is a vital gathering place for residents to connect, learn, and participate in community activities. To address drainage and foundation concerns and protect the building for years to come, the Town has begun essential repairs.
The facility is closed while crews work to ensure safety and efficiency. Work on underground storm sewer lines and inlets is underway. Micropiles have been installed on the south side of the building. After curing, the existing/failing micropiles will be clipped. Work continues on the storm sewer and inlets. Rough grading will begin this week.

Labor Day was the last day of the season at South Pool. The pool has been drained and winterized, and the bathhouse and storage will be cleared early this week. The Town’s contractor, A.D. Miller, has mobilized onsite and fenced off the area.
The playground is closed temporarily during concrete demolition, which will begin this week. Closures may be intermittent throughout construction based on noise and other safety concerns that would otherwise affect residents utilizing the space. Signage will be posted and the playground re-opened when the area is safe to visit. Please follow posted signage and construction barriers and avoid entering restricted areas
The new pool will include a renovated bathhouse, a larger swimming pool with new play features, including a 25-foot slide and current channel, and a splash pad.
North Pool’s final day of the 2026 swim season was Sunday, Aug. 23. This renovation will bring significant improvements to the facility, including: a new pool shell and deck, updated bath house, additional shade, a new zero-depth entry wading pool, and more efficient mechanical and sanitation systems.
Demolition of the pool tile and plaster is underway, as well as demolition of the pool deck and the interior of the bath house.
The contractor has left several parking spaces near the entrance to the lot available for tennis players, with a safe pedestrian route to the tennis courts along the construction fencing. Signage has been posted to avoid confusion on the safest route to the tennis courts from the parking lot. Reminder: The North Pool parking lot will not be available for school drop-off during construction. Please follow posted signage and construction barriers and avoid entering restricted areas.
The Town will continue to provide weekly project updates throughout the construction phase, including information about project progress, upcoming activities, and any impacts to the surrounding community.
