Sagamore Utility Incident Update

Published on July 31, 2026

The following is an update of what the Town currently knows regarding the utility incident near Sycamore Circle in the Sagamore neighborhood.

On Wednesday, July 29, a subcontractor working for Intrepid struck an Xcel Energy gas main. Emergency services were contacted through 911, and Xcel Energy crews responded to secure the area and complete repairs.

During the gas-line repair, an Xfinity line was also damaged, resulting in an outage affecting some residents. Xcel Energy and Xfinity crews have completed both utility repairs. Xcel Energy and Intrepid have started an investigation into the incident, including evaluating whether the gas line had been properly located and marked before work began.

The Town has issued a stop-work order suspending all Intrepid work in the Sagamore area at this time.

All roads in the area are currently open, but additional repairs are needed for affected sidewalks, pavement and other infrastructure. A schedule for that restoration work has not yet been provided.

All work associated with this incident is being performed by private utility companies and their contractors, including Intrepid, Xcel Energy and Comcast/Xfinity.

The Town will continue coordinating with these companies and will share updates as they become available.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the appropriate utility provider or call us at 303-499-3675 or email pwu@info.superiorcolorado.gov.
