Residents have two options for Christmas tree recycling

Published on December 30, 2025

Don’t throw away your live Christmas tree after the holidays; recycle it instead! Live trees are biodegradable and can be repurposed into mulch, compost, and other beneficial uses. Here are two easy recycling options:

1. Recycle your Christmas tree at Superior's Yard Waste Site

Drop off your tree, free of ornaments, tinsel, and decorations, at the Superior Yard Waste Site (2125 Honey Creek Lane). The site is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 31 for Superior residents. Collected trees will be turned into mulch or compost.

2. Let the Scouts do the heavy lifting

For 27 years, Scouts have helped recycle Christmas trees in Louisville and Superior. This year’s event is coordinated by Troop 69, with Scouts and their families volunteering their time to make it happen.

While not required, a suggested donation of $20 helps support Scout camps and activities throughout the year. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.

Please place trees at the curb by 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, with all decorations removed.
