The Town of Superior has identified a water main leak on Bristol Street near Briggs Place. The leak is under control, but utility crews will be repairing the leak on Tuesday, July 15. During repairs, water to approximately 20 homes near the leak will be shut off for a couple hours. Once the repair is made, the water service will be restored.
Once the water service is restored, residents near the leak may notice some discolored water in their home. This is due to sediment getting into the system during a water main break and the use of fire hydrants. The water quality is not influenced by this situation. The water is safe to use and drink. The Town keeps residual chlorine in the mains at all times and conducts additional chlorine applications at the site of the break.
The best course of action for homeowners is to run cold water only through your faucets for 10-15 minutes or until the water is clear. Most dirty water situations will clear up in this timeframe. If not, turn the water off, wait 10-15 minutes, and repeat the flushing process again.
Town staff will be flushing water mains to remove as much sediment/brown water as possible.
The Town apologizes for the inconvenience associated with this leak. If you have any questions, please contact the Town's Public Works & Utilities Department atpwu@superiorcolorado.gov.
