Olson Outdoors, under the direction of wildfire consultant Bintel Inc., was selected by the Town to conduct wildfire mitigation treatments in open space areas, funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

Reducing noxious or invasive weed species is an essential component of wildfire mitigation in open space areas because they tend to provide wildfire fuel that burns longer and hotter than typical native species.

The team will be well-identified in company logoed attire and will have signage indicating they are conducting wildfire mitigation.

The crews will apply herbicide in accordance with the Town’s Weed and Pest Management Program. Targeted herbicide methods include using the product sparingly at the lowest possible dosage and applying it within proximity to the identified noxious weed plant. Spraying will be restricted to 100 feet from water (streams, creeks, wetlands, ponds) and 50 feet of any trails.
