You "herd" it here first! Goat Bros, Hoof-Action Grazing is returning to provide grazing services in Superior!
Starting tomorrow, Oct. 29, the 300-goat herd will graze Castle Peak Open Space, about 40 acres just east of Eldorado PK-8, as part of the Town's wildfire mitigation efforts to reduce fuel loads on open space properties. Once grazing is complete in the Castle Peak area, the goats plan to move to Autrey Park (1830 Honey Creek Drive) for the remainder of the winter.
The Goat Bros have been the selected goat vendor for Superior for the past four years and continue to provide healthy and hungry goats to help reduce open space fuels. They also fertilize the area and overseed with native grass and pollinator varieties.
The Town was awarded a Strategic Fuels Mitigation Grant through Boulder County to help fund this project.
Please be aware that the owners of Goat Bros will live on-site in their camper at the South Pool parking lot and then move to the Autrey Park parking lot.
Interested in meeting our favorite fuel mitigation team?
Stay tuned! A public meet-and-greet will be offered in November to provide the community with an opportunity to meet the goats and learn more about their role in wildfire mitigation.
