Help keep Superior beautiful by cleaning up after your pets!

A woman picks up dog poop from grass in a park.

Did you know that recent studies have shown that in dry climates, coyote scats can completely biodegrade, replenishing soil nutrients within 4-11 days?

Unfortunately, this timeline doesn't apply to dog poop; it can take 6 months or more to break down! The slower process is partly because all store-bought foods have some form of preservative — no one wants to open a bag of moldy kibble! During that time, fecal bacteria rapidly multiply and infect the soil and water around them.

Picking up after your dog protectsthe environmentalquality of soil and water, and keeps everyone healthier! Plus, Superior's municipal code requires dog owners to do so.

We're here to help!

  • Bring bags along on your walk or dog park trip and pack extra in case you run out or need to help a neighbor who forgot theirs.
  • Make sure those bags end up in a trash can! There are courtesy bags and trash cans located throughout the Town.

Thank you for working with us to help dispose of pet waste and keep our open spaces fresh and beautiful!
