CAPS hosts June 24 conversation about drawing and connection

Join the Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee (CAPS) for an intriguing conversation between two art industry life partners and learn of their passion for drawing and building community.

Artists and curators Donald Fodness and Daisy Fodness-McGowanwill discuss how they launched their Drawing Never Dies project in 2016 as an expansive exhibition and how it defined drawing as a primal artistic act with a multitude of variables.

Nearly 10 years later, Drawing Never Dies has evolved into an artist residency program that is situated in a treehouse and, as a publication, celebrates drawing as the most essential act of visual communication. Learn about the artist and curator duo and how this expansive and inclusive residency fosters creative exploration, connection, and personal growth through a celebration of visual art's most fundamental act: drawing.

About the speakers:

  • Daisy Fodness-McGowan is an artist, arts administrator, educator, curator, writer, nonprofit fundraiser, and mother. She currently serves as the Executive Director for Think 360 Arts for Learning, a 62-year old arts education and community focused non-profit.

  • Donald Fodness is an artist, active community member, curator, and collaborator with The Flying OHNO Twins and The DMB Collective. He co-founded Showpen Residency, is a founding member of Hyperlink art collective. Since 2007 he has served in higher education at various institutions including University of Denver, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and Metro State University of Denver. He currently lives and works in Denver, Colorado.
