Town asks residents to conserve water

Published on October 02, 2026

As fall arrives and watering needs decrease, the Town of Superior is asking residents to conserve water by voluntarily stopping lawn watering beginning Oct. 2 and pause for the remainder of the year. The ongoing drought continues to impact Superior’s water supply. September water use was the highest ever recorded Town-wide, which affects how much water the Town is able to carry into the 2027 water year. Taking a break from lawn watering now will preserve water for next summer, when irrigation needs are highest. The Town will also reduce its irrigation use and prioritize high-use areas, such as athletic fields, while reducing or eliminating irrigation in other areas where it is not needed.

Thank you for helping conserve water and protect Superior’s water supply for the year ahead. Learn more about drought mitigation and water conservation at SuperiorColorado.gov/DroughtMitigation.
