Current Road Closures
South Coal Creek Drive at Akron Place
A concrete median island has been installed on South Coal Creek Drive to enhance pedestrian protection at this intersection. The street work is complete with signing recently installed. Note that in conjunction with this project, the Speed Limit on South Coal Creek Drive has been reduced to 25 MPH. Attention to this change is drawn by installation of orange flags and posting of a speed radar trailer.
Town-wide striping and crack sealing will taking place through the summer and into fall. Please be aware of mobile work zones.
2019 Street Rehabilitation Project
The 2019 Street Rehabilitation Project will begin this summer. This includes repairing Coalton Road between Rock Creek Parkway and Indiana Street.
The project will be constructed this summer, and major work elements should be substantially complete by the mid-September. This project will entail periodic lane closures and lane shifts on Coalton Road. Portions of Coalton will be reconstructed in phases with the eastbound lanes closed during construction, with traffic shifted to the westbound lanes with one-lane open in each direction. Once the eastbound lanes are reconstructed, traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes (one lane in each direction) while the westbound lanes are reconstructed. In addition to the repairs on Coalton there will be a mill & overlay of a 300 ft segment of McCaslin near High Plains Dr, construction of a trailhead parking lot off of McCaslin Blvd south of Original Town, expansion and paving of the Autrey Park parking lot, and crack sealing on various high volume roadways throughout the Town. The project is expected to be substantially complete by mid-October. At least one access will be maintained to all businesses along Coalton Rd at all times. Updates will be provided on this webpage and through e-blasts.
The south lanes have been paved with the bottom layers of asphalt and traffic has been switched to the south lanes so the north lanes can be reconstructed. Pavement on the north lanes, from Rock Creek Circle to Rock Creek Parkway, will remain in place to provide parking for Chili Fest on September 7. The project is expected to wrap up in mid-October.
The Autrey Park parking lot construction is planned to begin on September 9th and will take approximately 4 weeks. During this time the dog park will be closed since pedestrian access crosses the work zone. The Yard Waste Site will be open during construction for local traffic, except for one day (TBD) when curb and gutter is poured.
Work Zone Guidelines
