Wastewater typically refers to sewage which comes from homes and businesses, commercial properties and public institutions, and includes the water generated from bathrooms and kitchens. Wastewater runs through its own system, known as the sanitary sewer system, and gets treated at the Town's wastewater treatment plant with a variety of biological, chemical and mechanical processes. Once treated, wastewater is considered safe to be returned to the environment. From the wastewater treatment plant, the treated wastewater is discharged into nearby Rock Creek; however, during the summer months about half of the treated wastewater that would otherwise go into Rock Creek is considered reuse water and is pumped and stored for commercial landscape irrigation. If you are interested in using reuse water on your commercial property, or have questions regarding reuse water, please email Jim Widner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
