ShopSuperior-logoWhen you shop in Superior, you strengthen our local economy and you support our vital public services. The Superior Chamber of Commerce partners with the Town to carry out its mission to strengthen businesses and help make Superior the tremendous community we are today. Building on this foundation for our future, the Town and Chamber want to remind you to Shop Superior.

The Shop Superior program highlights the critical link between our shopping choices and the quality of life we enjoy here - and how patronizing merchants, restaurants, and businesses located in Superior provide benefits now and in the future. Every dollar you spend in Superior supports police, street maintenance, parks, trails, open space, recreation and other valued services.

With our irregular Town boundaries, it can be difficult to know which businesses are in Superior. The Chamber and Town both have handy directory listings to help find local businesses to meet your needs, and be sure to look for the Shop Superior window clings in our local stores and businesses.

The community's support for the Shop Superior program is simple - we derive a significant portion of our operating and capital improvement budgets from sales tax. Maintaining and innovating to build this critical source of revenue relieves the potential demand for other taxes and user fees directly on residents. Specifically, locally-generated sales tax revenues provide:

  • 100 percent of our open space initiatives
  • 90 percent of our capital improvements budget (including streets, sidewalks, drainage and recreation improvements)
  • more than 50 percent of all General Fund expenses, which includes police protection, public works, recreational programming, building inspections and support services

The Town and Chamber remind you to Shop Superior, and remember that approximately $3.50 out of every $100 purchase goes back to the community in which the purchase is made. If you have a choice between a retailer located in Superior and another jurisdiction, pick the Superior retailer and keep your sales taxes in Town and support the Town services we all enjoy.
