Free Compost

Free compost and mulch is available seasonally to Superior residents to help "close the loop" and give back a finished product made from the organic materials collected. Any Superior resident can stop by the Yard Waste Recycling Facility during the hours listed above to receive compost for their yard during the late spring/early summer while supplies last. There is a limited amount of compost available on a first-come first-served basis – please be prepared to show identification with a Superior address.

Compost allows air flow into garden soil, helping the soil to retain moisture longer and providing beneficial bacteria for the plants in your landscape. Using mulch in your landscape can reduce the amount of water used to keep your plants healthy. Mulching can be done every year to maintain an insulating layer between the atmosphere and the soil. You can put compost on in spring to prepare your beds for planting or during the growing season.
