Experience a day filled with family-friendly events and patriotic spirit! We invite you to join in the many festivities as Superior celebrates our nation's independence with red, white and blue fun for everyone!

Get ready for red, white and blue fun for everyone at Superior's annual 4th of July Celebration!  

Race in the Superior Mile, watch the parade, then head to Community Park to enjoy free pancakes sponsored by Spice of Life, served by the Rotary Club of Boulder Valley. This year’s festival will also offer circus-themed entertainment: stilt walkers, bubble and balloon artists, and face painters; also, a plethora of bouncies and local businesses.

Monarch Alumni and current CU Boulder Music Student Lorelai Rafter will sing the National Anthem.


Event Timeline:
Superior Mile: 7 a.m.
Parade: 8:30 a.m.
Pancake Festival: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Community Center BBQ: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Free parking and a shuttle service will be available at Lot 15 at the corner of Coalton Road and McCaslin Blvd. across from the Coalton Trailhead. The shuttle will make round trips to and from Community Park every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. No bike valet services provided - bring a bike lock.

Fireworks: 
Reminder from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office -- Fireworks that explode or leave the ground are illegal in the Town of Superior. This limits the legal fireworks to sparklers, fountains and similar devices. Let’s work together to keep our community safe this 4th of July! Thank you.

 

Downhill Mile

It’s back! Grab your friends and family, and your favorite 4th-themed running gear for this fun, fast, family race.

Challenge yourself and your personal record at the 2025 Superior Mile. T-shirts will be given out on a first come first served basis to the first 250 picking up bibs. All children registering that are 12 and under will receive a cotton kid's sized t-shirt. Adults will receive an adult T shirt with both men's and women's sizing.

Awards: Overall M/F 1st: $150, 2nd: $75, 3rd: $50


Race Registration: 

Kids 12 & Under: $10 + processing fees
Ages 12 & Up: $25 + processing fees

 Register online -- Online registration closes at noon July 2nd, you will be able to register race day at 5:45 a.m.


Course:

Length: 1 mile

Route: Down Rock Creek Parkway from S. Pitkin Ave. to Coal Ridge Dr. (slightly modified route due to construction at McCaslin Rd. and Rock Creek Pkwy.)

July 3 at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Packet pick-up at Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road)
July 4 at 5:45 a.m. Race Day registration and packet pick up at the start
July 4 at 7 a.m. Race Start at the corner of S. Pitkin Ave. and Rock Creek Pkwy.

4th of July Parade

Join in or watch from the sidelines, but don’t forget to vote for your favorite float! The Superior 4th of July parade is a long-standing community favorite that kicks off at 8:30 a.m. The red, white, and blue procession, led by the Monarch High School Marching Band, will return to the traditional route down Rock Creek Parkway from Pitkin Ave. to Coalton Road, and into Community Park. The community will vote for their favorite entries using QR Codes posted along the route and at the Pancake Festival.

Pancake Festival

9 a.m. - noon at Community Park (1350 Coalton Road)

2024 Superior July 4th-63.jpg Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time for hot pancakes sponsored by Spice of Life and served by the Rotary Club of Boulder Valley. This year’s festival will also offer circus-themed entertainment: stilt walkers, bubble and balloon artists, and face painters; also, a plethora of bouncies and local business booths. Bring a water bottle. Please walk, ride, or carpool. No bike valet will be offered. Bike racks will be set up but owners are responsible for parking and securing their own bike.

Dylan Teifer is best known for his work on keyboards with the Colorado-based nationally touring band Steely Dead. When he’s not on the road, he will often put together the Dylan & Friends ensemble featuring some of Colorado’s top-talented musicians.
