Pedestrian Crossings at Rock Creek Parkway

There are flashing beacons on crosswalks along 6th Avenue, 88th Street, and Rock Creek Parkway at four locations: Pitkin Avenue, Coal Creek Drive, Honey Creek Lane, and the entrance to Safeway. These crosswalks are designed to improve walkability without impeding or hindering vehicle traffic.

Things to know:

  • Pedestrians can activate the flashers by pressing the push buttons installed on the median and on either side of Rock Creek Parkway.
  • Once activated, crosswalks will flash when a pedestrian is in the road.
  • Pedestrians are required to give drivers a chance to stop before entering the crosswalk.
  • Drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians within or approaching a crosswalk.
