The Town of Superior is excited to partner with local tennis professional Ted Murray to offer a variety of youth and adult programs this summer.  Ted, founder of Tennis from the Heart, previously led the Town’s tennis program for 4 years before spending last summer directing the #3 rated adult tennis camp in the world in Vermont.  Untitled-3Ted chose to remain in Colorado this summer and is excited about returning to Superior to run the Town’s junior tennis program as well as an expanded adult program.  Check out our exciting new program offerings for the spring!

92189603Tiny Tennis Champs (ages 5-7)

A perfect way for young players to get a solid foundation for the game. The key is making it fun so they develop a love of the game. Games and understanding of the game will be the primary focus.

One Week Tennis Camp (ages 10-18)

This is a camp for players of all ages and levels. A concentrated week of instruction, games and match play is the ideal way to raise your game to a new level in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Players should be mature enough to concentrate for 2 1/2 hours at a time, although numerous breaks for water and snacks are built into the program.

Junior Tennis Tournament (ages 10-18)

Saturday morning round robin tournament. A great way to get ready for match play in CARA or USTA Leagues. Play will be in a doubles mixer format. Prizes and refreshments provided.

CARA Tennis League (ages 8-18)

CARA is a statewide instructional league for players of all levels from age 8 to 18. It’s perfect for beginning players as well as intermediate and advanced. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday mornings with matches on Friday morning, some of which will be in neighboring towns. Coaches will be present for matches to assist. Focus will be on learning fundamentals, developing physical fitness and learning to play the game. Attitude and learning life skills are most important. Each player will receive a personal journal and is expected to have an excellent attitude toward all teammates. All players can play in district tournament at end of 6 weeks of match play. T & Th practices. Ages 8 - 10, 8:30 - 9:45 am; Ages 10 - 12, 9:45 - 11:00 am; Ages 13 - 17, 11 am - 12:15 pm. Matches Friday am.

USTA Tennis League (ages 10-18)

USTA leagues are perfect for players with experience who want to challenge themselves to the next level of competition. It is team oriented, with teams needing to be of a similar age and level. We can’t guarantee we will have teams at all levels that would be appropriate for you. If it works out that there isn’t an appropriate team for you, we will apply your payment to the CARA league that is a bit less competitive and is open to all levels. Registration for USTA closes in mid-April and the season runs from June through July. One 90 minute practice each week on Wednesday afternoon, matches played on Mondays. Teams may qualify to the state finals. Register early so we have time to assign you to the proper team that will be perfect for you. W, Practices between 2-6 p; M, Matches between 9a - 2p.

Private lessons (ages 14+) are an excellent way to improve rapidly by focusing on your own needs, improving your weaknesses and adding new shots and strategies to your game. Lessons can be shared by 2 people or up to 4 at the same rate.   Most lessons are at a set time on a weekly basis. Lessons will be with either Ted Murray or  another experienced, certified professional.  Contact Ted at for questions or to set up private lessons.
