COLORADO STATE PATROL INCREASES SAFETY ENFORCEMENT ON US 36 AND I-25 EXPRESS LANES
In response to feedback from customers and local governments along the corridor, CDOT, the High Performance Transportation Enterprise (HPTE), Plenary Roads Denver and the Colorado State Patrol agreed to increase safety enforcement along the US 36 and I-25 Express Lanes. Increased enforcement will help promote safe and reliable travel times along these corridors. Since July, state troopers issued nearly 900 traffic violations for HOV violations and reckless driving, such as crossing solid lines, weaving in and out of the Express Lanes and other violations. An HOV violation comes with an up to $250 fine, and weaving in and out of the Express Lanes or crossing the solid lines can yield up to a $1000 fine and points off a driver’s license. Drivers are never forced to pay a toll, they can always use free general purpose lanes. When you drive along these corridors – be aware that enforcement is on!
